Carmen Cabrera- Biography
Chicago born stylist and makeup artist Carmen Cabrera began her career in the beauty business like many of the great visual artists today - by chance. In 2002, a frantic 4:00 a.m. wake-up call from Canadian celebrity stylist Danny Morrow to replace his assistant inadvertently launched a career that now spans over 10 plus years and the establishment of her award winning company, Glam by Carmen.
A licensed cosmetologist, Carmen’s career is as diverse as the team of freelance artists in her employ. She has worked as a commercial makeup artist and stylist for international clientele such as Mitsubishi, launched her own makeup line, Cabrera Cosmetics, with co-founder Barbara Lebron, and pursued her passion as an educator with noteworthy South Florida beauty schools such as Hollywood Institute of Beauty Careers, Kaizen Beauty Academy and Florida Career College and Prestige Beauty Academy of Health and Science. She has also performed as a beauty advisor for national brands such as Sephora, Boots and Cargo cosmetics, and was a guest speaker at many local makeup events in South Florida.
A true poet and artist, Carmen’s passion for education and sharing knowledge has led to the expansion of her studio services to include workshops and seminars in bridal updos, hair color and makeup. She has inspired a generation of students and is committed to her faith in the empowerment of education.
Glam by Carmen is a family driven business, so it’s no surprise that the special effects division of her studio is led by her daughter Venissa Cantu whose successful career is a true source of pride for Carmen. Her work with her husband, Breezy Cabrera, is also an inspiration, and has led to editorial and collaborative work with emerging artists and musicians, and work on the music project, Elevated Solz.
A resident of South Florida since 1992 Carmen currently resides in Miami, Florida,
